Leonie Krippendorff is a screenwriter and director born and raised in Berlin. Growing up she had abundant exposure to arts as her family shared her mother’s house with musicians and art students. This environment, she says, had a strong influence on her. Her graduation project and first feature film Looping was released in 2016. Looping was well received and was nominated for several awards both national and international. Cocoon is the director's second feature film and has already garnered positive attention and several awards. Krippendorff graduated from The Konrad Wolf Film University of Babelsberg where she studied directing from 2009 to 2016. Before that she studied photo design at the private vocational school for design BEST-Sabel in Berlin and was a freelance photographer for a while. Between 2007 and 2008 she worked with the regional broadcaster Havelland Television in Nennhausen, where she gained experience with editorial work. Currently Krippendorff is said to be working on two new feature film projects and was listed on Variety’s "10 European talents to watch in 2020".
